Hey, I’m Josh
I am your average Joe in my mid 30s with a very taxing job, 2 young kids and a good circle of friends. My everyday life is kind of a rinse repeat cycle with a demanding boss during the day and demanding kids in the evening and weekends.
Given this, I hope you will not judge me when I say that given a choice between a cold glass of beer or two hours in the gym (when I can squeeze the time), I normally prefer the cold one(s) :).
This cycle continued from the moment I started working (about 15 years ago) till a few months back when I say myself in the mirror and saw a middle-aged, pot-bellied figure I didn’t much like. From being a super fit and sporty student, physically I’d turned into everything I did not want to be.
But, there was a big problem!
I despised the gym and did not want to (or at any rate could not afford to) spend hours working on my body in the gym. I decided to start looking at ways to effectively lose weight and get fitter.
Fast forward 3 months, I am 40 pounds lighter (not my ideal weight – I still have about 8 pounds to lose) and feeling a lot better about myself. Miraculously, the journey to weight loss wasn’t nowhere as hard as I thought it would be. The envious looks I get from my colleagues and friends (and the odd sweet looks I get from strangers at pubs more than pays off for the effort).
So here I am, looking to continue my journey to fitness and hoping the male envy and female attention continues to grow 🙂
Why am I here?
I know from vast personal experience, that I’m not the only one looking to lose weight and look better. In fact after my dramatic weight loss, I helped a lot of my friends along the same journey with incredible success.
So if you’re someone like me i.e. someone who’s looking to lose weight and become fit without giving up on life, I’m here to hopefully inspire you with my journey and share tips personal strategies and resources to help you achieve your fitness goals.
The 3 C’s of Fitness
Over the past months, I have realized that the journey to fitness needs 3 essential ingredients:
While commitment is fully individual – two critical aspects of getting back in shape – coaching and community have to come from outside. No matter how fit or unfit you are, you need someone to coach you and tell you how to get better (Hell, Roger Federer has a tennis coach). At the same time it is important to engage with like-minded people who keep you motivated and true to your goals.
Shortcuts do exist – you need to search differently
Almost always, people look for weight loss and fitness answers in the wrong places.
Just how likely is it that a gym owner will share do at home – 5 minutes a day routines to help you lose all your belly fat in 1 month?
When we go to professionals whose job it is to keep you paying for the rest of your life you are highly unlikely to get any fitness shortcuts.
Fitness Takes Work
Just like all good things in life – fitness comes at a price. You will need to spend some time on your body and take care of your diet – just that the changes I recommend will be moderate and will not significantly change your lifestyle. All this while making you healthier and fitter.
